Recovered from hurricane Maria Dominica back in business
2018, February 1: Battered and bruised during the 2017 hurricane season, Dominica welcomed its first cruise ship at the end of January, mv Mein Schiff 3, owned by TUI. It was the first reported cruise call since hurricane Maria hit the island-state.
Cruises arrived on January 28 with more than 2,000 passengers. Earlier in January, executives from Carnival Cruise Lines visited Roseau to meet with local tour operators, to look at the state of readiness of several sites, and to discuss future plans. All-natural sites in Dominica that are managed by the Division of Forestry, with the exception of the Boiling Lake, Waitukubuli National Trail and Soufrière Sulphur Springs, are ready and open to visitors as the country recovers from the destruction and tragedy of 2017.
