Use of hydrogen advances
With real-world evidence of Climate Change already entering an advanced phase, the urgency for fossil-free fuel use has become acute.
Increasingly, hydrogen is being brought into use for moving cargo. Hydrogen is already a leading alternative in the switch from fossil fuel transportation and Ports of Stockholm is one of the many port operators that is interested. Evidence was again exhibited at the recent (June 2022) signing of a collaboration agreement between Ports of Stockholm and CMB.TECH for sustainable operations at the Norvik Port container terminal. This arrangement will entail the building of a hydrogen fuelling station on property adjacent to the port. The first phase of the agreement will also include the conversion of port vehicles from diesel, to run on green hydrogen.
The first truck to be fuelled by green hydrogen is expected to be in service at Stockholm’s Norvik Port in 2023. []
